Where Two Stories Became One

Some paths are chosen. Others seem to find us.

Hollow Tree began in British Columbia with a tree planter, a forester, and a deep love for the wild places of the Pacific Northwest. Forests were never simply inspiration. They were lived experience. Old growth cedar, coastal rain, mountain air, resin, bark, moss, and changing seasons became part of the language of the brand.

Then another story found its way in.

Long before Rebecca Verstegen became the Owner and Steward of Hollow Tree, she travelled through France while visiting the birthplace of her grandmother. During that journey, she encountered the world of French fragrance and visited a distillery where flowers, botanicals, woods, and aromatic materials were transformed through generations of craft.

She remembered it. Then life moved on.

Years later, Rebecca joined Hollow Tree, drawn to a brand that already felt strangely familiar. As she came to understand the fragrances, materials, and origins behind the company, she discovered an unexpected connection between Hollow Tree and the world of scent she had encountered in France long before.

A thread she could never have planned.

Today, Rebecca carries forward Hollow Tree’s original forest rooted spirit while shaping its next chapter as a Canadian fragrance house with a wider point of view.

One foot remains firmly in British Columbia.

The other reaches toward Grasse, France, where our fragrance partners help develop custom blends with depth, nuance, and character.

Here in British Columbia, we pour, blend, test, refine, and craft in small batches. We work with premium plant derived fragrance oils and essential oils, creating scent for the spaces we inhabit, the rituals we return to, and the memories we carry with us.

We are inspired by nature, but not bound by literal interpretations of it.

A forest can become warmth. A flower can become memory. Rain can become stillness.

Fragrance gives us a way to take something wild and transform it into something deeply personal.

That is the space Hollow Tree occupies.

Between British Columbia and France.

Between nature and refinement.

Between the places we remember and the lives we are creating now.

Hollow Tree was born from the woods.
